Kid Kindness

Working to stem the tide of children abusing children

As a program of the Child Protection Center, Kid Kindness provides highly specialized counseling services to those youth in the community who have displayed sexual misconduct. This includes a wide range of behavior: from inappropriate child's play to sexual abuse. We work with male youth to 12 years old and female youth to 17 years old. As a preventative component, our Kid Kindness project works with youth at risk.

To make a referral to Kid Kindness, just call the Child Protection Center at (941) 365-1277. We ascribe to state and national standards of treatment. We serve the entire Sarasota County area. We receive primary funding from the Florida Winefest & Auction, Inc.

The Mission

We seek to take proactive measures to reduce the growth of sexual abuse by equipping our youth with healthy living skills and correcting their misconduct.

The Challenge - To Adults

We all face the challenge of developing an understanding of child sexuality, learning to recognize healthy and unhealthy child sexual behavior and finding constructive ways to respond to these behaviors. Real help comes through the cooperation between all adults involved: parents, the court, counselors, teachers, family, friends and the community.

The Challenge - To Children

The greatest challenge of all comes to our children who must grow and develop in a society that overexposes them to sexually explicit information with little support or education. As a result, children may develop sexual misperceptions, confusion, misunderstandings and misconduct.
